News
Beauty industry news, written for the people who buy
Most beauty news is written for shoppers. This section is written for the trade — retailers, salon owners, distributors and online sellers — and it covers the things that actually change your cost, your risk or your shelf.
Shamire's news desk covers four things: who owns and distributes what, what wholesale prices and tariffs are doing, counterfeit and grey-market enforcement, and ingredient regulation. Every story ends with what it means for a buyer, not just what happened.

What we cover, and what we leave alone
| We cover | We leave alone |
|---|---|
| Distributor and brand ownership changes | Celebrity launches with no trade angle |
| Wholesale price and tariff movements | Rewritten press releases |
| Counterfeit seizures and marketplace enforcement | "10 products we're loving" filler |
| Ingredient bans and labelling rules | Unsourced TikTok trend claims |
| Retail channel shifts and store closures | Anything a brand paid to place |
Why supply-side news matters more than launch news
A new shade range does not change your business. A tariff change on imported cosmetics, a distributor losing an authorised line, or a marketplace tightening its counterfeit policy all do — sometimes within a week. Those stories are usually buried in filings and trade notices rather than press kits, which is exactly why they are worth writing up properly.
How we handle a story
- Two sources or a primary document. A single anonymous claim is not a story.
- Named where possible. If a source is anonymous we say why.
- Right of reply. Companies named in a critical story are contacted before publication.
- Corrections stay visible. Dated, at the top of the article, never silently edited away.
Send us a tip
If you work in distribution, retail or manufacturing and something is happening that buyers should know about, email larashaposy@gmail.com. Tell us what you know and how you know it. We do not publish what we cannot corroborate, and we protect sources.
Prefer to write it yourself? Our contributor guidelines are open to people in the trade.
Frequently asked questions
What does Shamire cover in beauty industry news?
Supply-side news that changes what a retailer pays or risks: distributor and brand ownership changes, wholesale pricing and tariff movements, counterfeit and grey-market enforcement, ingredient regulation, and retail channel shifts. We skip celebrity launches unless they move the trade.
How often is beauty industry news published?
As stories warrant rather than to a quota. We would rather publish four pieces a month that a buyer can act on than twenty rewrites of a press release.
Do you publish brand press releases?
No. Press releases are a source, not a story. If we cover a launch we say who paid for what, and no brand sees a draft before publication.
Can I submit a news tip?
Yes. Email larashaposy@gmail.com with what you know and how you know it. We protect sources and we do not publish claims we cannot corroborate.
